Every vs all - the core split
English blurs these. Polish makes you choose, and the verb follows your choice.
każdy = every / each. Always singular: każdy student ma...
wszyscy / wszystkie = all. Always plural: wszyscy studenci mają...
Same people, different lens: każdy zooms in on one at a time, wszyscy takes them together.
So the mistake to avoid is każdy studenci mają - mixing a singular word with a plural verb.
Każdy student ma indeks.
Every student has an ID card.
Wszyscy studenci mają indeksy.
All the students have ID cards.
każdy changes for gender
It behaves like an adjective - match it to the noun it sits in front of.

Każde dziecko to wie.
There is no plural of każdy in this meaning. When you need a plural, you switch words entirely - to wszyscy or wszystkie.
wszyscy or wszystkie? The oni / one rule again
You already know this split - it's exactly the same one as oni / one, and panowie / panie.
wszyscy - groups with at least one man (like oni): wszyscy koledzy, wszyscy ludzie.
wszystkie - women, things, animals, children (like one): wszystkie koleżanki, wszystkie bilety.
One man in the group is enough to tip it to wszyscy.

The past tense follows too: wszyscy przyszli vs wszystkie przyszły - the same -li / -ły split you met with panowie byli / panie były.
The wszystko trap
wszystko and wszystkie look like twins. They are not.
wszystko = everything. It stands alone, with no noun after it: Wszystko jest dobrze.
wszystkie = all the... and needs a plural noun after it: Wszystkie rzeczy są tutaj.
Quick test: if English says 'everything', use wszystko. If English says 'all the [things]', use wszystkie.

Look at the cases hiding inside: każdego dnia is dopełniacz, za każdym razem is narzędnik, and wszystkiego najlepszego is dopełniacz too - it's short for 'życzę ci wszystkiego najlepszego'.
